Hello! My name is Aimee and I’m a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service. I’m documenting the excitement, pitfalls, and surprises of my first tour abroad. This blog is for friends and family to keep apprised without me spamming social media, and nothing on this page should be construed as representing the views of the Department of State.

My steadfast husband, J, and I made the decision to try out the foreign service lifestyle after a lot of consideration as it seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime! So, we’re packing up our beloved rowhouse in Washington, DC, my home for the last 8 years, and moving to the United Arab Emirates.

Our trusty travel companions include Orpheus, a persnickety toothless and diabetic geriatric cat, and Sable, our sweet and loving 3-year old rescued black lab.
